Daily Devotionals for Black History Month

How often have you heard the Igbo and Yoruba proverb, "It takes a village to raise a child"?  I hope like me you never get tired of it because it speaks of us coming together as a community to invest in our own future. It speaks of personal and communal responsibility. Despite the fact that some people try to recite it casually, it demands action!

That's what this Black History Month is all about for me.  God demanded action and I obeyed.  Holy Spirit told me to reach out to people - elders, youth, men and women- invite them to reflect, share and yes- take action.  So, My Divine Appointment's blog launches with communal action:

For the next 28 days of February, I will post devotionals curated from the community and/or written with the community in mind. Together, we will reflect on the Black experience.  Together we will hear God's Voice and be God's Voice.   Together, we will position ourselves as believing believers.

My sincere prayer for us as we grow and take action together is based on Ephesians 1:17-20:

Father, it is my sincere desire that You give us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in knowing You. With the eyes of our hearts wide open and enlightened, may each of us come to know the hope to which You have called us, become deeply aware of and experience the riches of Your glorious inheritance in each other, and access the immeasurable greatness of Your power in our lives as we believe and achieve, according to the working of Your great might.  Resurrection power transform us!  AMEN.

Much love,

Rev Denise
