OPEN HEAVENS OVER THE BLACK COMMUNITY
By Rev Denise Gillard

Oh that You would rend the heavens and come down”.
Isaiah 64:1

In November 2017 Holy Spirit instructed me to begin to pray “Open Heavens” over the Black community.  For me this prayer began with my family, the ministries that God has assigned me too, as well as the community in general.  Even though, I did not fully understand what this meant beyond revival, I launched into a prayer effort with enthusiasm and expectation.  After-all, it sounded good!

Clarity soon came from three distinct directions:

1. The preparation for preaching at the funeral of a young black male whom I knew, baptized and loved.  His death was senseless, violent and rocked the community. The loss was great but 21 young people came forward in response to the sermon saying that they wanted more of God and more from God. In that moment, God demonstrated to me the kind of kingdom impact available for our community.

2. My only son’s baptism.  For two years daily I had been praying that God would repair our wounded relationship and one day, after I had prayed open heavens, I heard God say that I was praying wrong, "Don't pray that his heart turns back toward you, pray that it turns toward Me."  I quickly agreed, changed my prayer and within 2 months, my son told me he wanted to give his life to God and be baptized.  It was that experience that affirmed that I had reached a new level of hearing and obeying God's voice.

3. My attendance and participation in the inaugural National Black Canadians Summit where I learned the General Assembly of the United Nations declared 2015- 2024 the International Decade for People of African Descent.  Although the declaration was issued 2 years prior, like many of the other attendees, 'I didn't get the memo.'  Who knew that the UN had made this decision?  Who knew that they recognized "that people of African descent represent a distinct group whose human right should be both promoted and protected, during this decade?"  Who knew that they had committed to concentrating on Recognition, Justice and Development of people of African Descent?  I was surprised to hear about it and cracked a whole row of delegates up with my memo joke.  Then I heard the voice of God:

"So it is in the natural it is in the Spirit.  This is the decade for God’s people of African descent to arise and take their place at the leadership table.  If My people will listen, turn, obey and apply my word, they will rise as never before.  I declare Open Heavens over them!

They will be recognized and no longer looked upon with scorn. Their experience of suffering, marginalization and reproach will be removed; for there is no other people who can reach the heart of the world.  The cries of the ancestors and the blood in the ground and seas has spoken.  They will cross all boundaries and crash through all isms and schisms and spread My word with a love and a power that has yet to be seen or heard.

Greater things shall they do than ever before and they will be documented.  Those who have maligned and put them down will bow and they because they have been scourged, they will be trusted to give Me all the honour, glory and power.

My people of African descent will move from glory to glory and revival will sweep the world through them.  Even as they are persecuted, they will study war no more.  Their revenge will be in an abundance of souls saved, disciples made, and resources. They will be paid the things they are owed and even children who did not work by the sweat of their brows, on those children I will heap resources.  But those resources will slip through the fingers of those who do not sow back into the Kingdom of God. But upon those who sow back, there shall be a huge reaping, more than enough, more than they can contain.  And all who see this will praise the Lord.

I will break the shackles of religion, form and fashion.  They will love Me and love who I made them to be and all who see it will praise the name of the Lord.  The weak, and poor, and broken, and homeless, and rich, and empty will be saved as my Black people proclaim my marvelous works."

Wow!  This was a lot.  I had never had such an experience before and right in the middle of a major presentation. There I was in the midst of everything, having a supernatural experience and frantically trying to write all that was being downloaded to my spirit.

And so began a new phase of ministry.  A phase in which I am pursuing this word for our community. Some may think I'm crazy or mislead but  I believe God is doing great things.  Go ahead-test the Spirit!

Much love & power,
Rev Denise
